The Shauca has Arrived!

It’s finally back! The highly anticipated Shauca is ready to return! With tangy grapefruit, the kick of ginger, and soothing mint, this juice is just what winter need!

Grapefruit

Grapefruit juice is low in calories and packed full of nutrients. Grapefruits are a cross between an orange and a shaddock. This combination gives the grapefruit it’s sweet, tangy flavor. Grapefruit contains 91% water, making them one of the most hydrating fruits. Similarly, grapefruits improve insulin resistance, and as a result, can help with weight control. One nutrient that grapefruit provides is naringin. This powerful flavonoid has cardiovascular benefits, improves bone mineral content, and may help lower blood lipids. However, this is not the only disease grapefruits have been used to fight. There is also evidence the grapefruit can help the body fight viral infections and breast cancer cell growth.

We use a variety of grapefruit called the Texas Red to make the Shauca! This variety is in season from October through April.

Ginger and Mint

Both ginger and mint are well known for their soothing properties. Ginger is a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant which helps to relieve nausea as well as muscle pain and inflammation. Compared to over-the-counter nausea relief medicine, ginger works more effectively, efficiently, and does not come with the negative side effects. Check out our blog post about how ginger combats nausea. Mint is an herb that also has calming properties along with soothing properties. This herb helps relieve upset stomach, gas and indigestion. Mint also has one of the highest antioxidant counts of any food! These two ingredients work together to make the Shauca a powerful hangover cure!
