The Sama cold-pressed juice is made with lavender, lemon, ginger, raw honey and alkaline water – we source our ingredients locally and the final juice is raw and unpasteurized, this also means that we do not use the HPP (high pressure pasteurization) method.

1/2 teaspoon of dried lavender per bottle (just enough)

Sourced from our friends at The Jasmine Pearl Tea Co. located here in Portland Oregon! We use dried, organic lavender soaked in filtered water over night to make lavender water. We then blend the infused water with the fresh lemon juice and local raw honey. So what’s the buzz with lavender? Well, the medicinal value and therapeutic effects of lavender is centuries old. Its compounds relieve stress, anxiety and blood pressure – calming the body, naturally. Currently in modern medicine, studies are being done to see how lavender can aid in central nervous system health due to aging and lifestyle.

We use ripe, juicy lemons to help cut the spiciness of the ginger. At the same time, they provide a fresh, bright taste – and their own array of health benefits. As is a natural antiseptic, Lemon clears bad bacteria out of the body. They are super high in the powerful antioxidant, Vitamin C. This makes it a perfect source to strengthen your immune system and fight off sickness. Health-promoting flavonoids in lemon contain properties that are anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic and anti-carcinogenic. Lemons also have an alkalizing effect on the body, stimulating the digestive system and purifying toxins out of the liver.

What gives the SAMA its kick – ginger. As an ancient remedy, its use was prominently to promote a healthy immune system. Now, with modern science focusing on the medicinal properties of this centuries old ailment, studies show ginger has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effects. Perhaps most notably, ginger is known to help relieve nausea and reduce muscle pain after intense physical activity. It is also great for those with IBS or diabetes due to the fact that it kick starts metabolism and can balance out sugar levels.

Raw honey and its multitude of medicinal qualities make it a valuable ingredient, beyond its natural sweetness. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, apoptotic, and antioxidant properties. You can find honey in some of the oldest medical literatures made by humankind. Traditional treatments range from throat infections to eczema. In modern studies, the properties in raw honey are contributed to memory improvement, response in immune stimulation, and reducing the risk of cardiovascular failures. Also, as an antibacterial agent, raw honey fights infections and promotes a healthy immune system.

For the purpose of it nutritional benefits, we opted for alkaline water. Due to its higher PH balance, alkaline water helps neutralize acidity in your bloodstream. This can decreases risk of susceptibility to disease and toxins. Additionally, alkaline water contains electrolytes that supplements the body, particularly during physical exertion. Studies show alkaline water increases metabolic rates which can contribute to weight loss. While simply filtered water may have a similar fresh taste, the health benefits of using alkaline water make it an optimal choice.
